If you get a call that one of your loved ones has been arrested, the first thing that you need to do is try to find out whether or not they’re bondable in terms of whether or not they have bail. The very next thing that you need to do, if you haven’t already done so, is to contact a lawyer. There’s many things that need to be done that are time sensitive that a lawyer can not only assist you with, but that could possibly help the case in the long run.

Something you always need to keep in mind if one of your loved ones is arrested and he or she calls you from the jail, anything that he or she says on the phone, or you say on the phone, is recorded and can be used against that individual in a court of law. It’s a good idea to not ever discuss the facts of the case over the jail phone, but to wait, speak to a lawyer, and let a lawyer advise how to proceed from there in terms of helping your loved one best.
